Former Boston Globe food editor and food stylist Sheryl Julian and I are teaming up this spring with a few workshops to help you quickly move to the next level in your food photos and writing. You’ll discover how to make your instagram captions sing and improve your blog posts, whether you want to sell a product or service or become adept at food writing for your next big dream. We have some food styling tricks and editing tools up our sleeves, too, so you can make big strides and put standout photos into the world. We’d love to see you at one of these!

In this workshop at Boston University you will have hands-on photography practice in a beautiful light-filled space and receive guidance for writing captivating blog posts and instagram captions. All levels are welcome.
Some of the topics we will cover are: How to define you photo style and make your instagram or blog consistent. How to use light, composition and color to tell a story How to get up and running with a phone or camera to make beautiful food shots. How to tell your story in words and enhance them with knockout photos.

We will cover all the basics in this small group setting. Learn first-hand how to set up your own home “studio” whether it’s in your kitchen, dining room or upstairs study. We’ll have slide shows and hands-on practice, with discussions about light, composition, style, telling stories with props and color and much more. We’ll discuss instagram strategies and blog writing. Join us for a lunch break and at the end of the day a glass of wine to discuss what you’ve learned and have your questions answered. All levels are welcome—phones or cameras.
Dark and moody? Light and bright? Composition in the frame and on the plate. We’ll help you define your style and create a consistent instagram feed or blog and give you tips on how to shoot difficult food like meat and brown food!
